Dear Sponsors, Donors and Supporters,
I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on 2025 as we approach the end of the year and prior to the Festive period where so many of the world come together to celebrate Christmas and the joyous celebration of the birth of Jesus.
The children, management and staff will be celebrating at this time with many happy memories of this year and it's not insignificant achievements.
We should also remember that the loving hands of Mushunga have also landed on many family members in the community who we have helped so as to ensure they remain able to provide for our school children through the outreach program. We have built (Or rebuilt) homes, provided clothes, mattresses and mosquito nets, food and other essentials to our wider family.
Back at base it is incredible to think that we have achieved as much as we have and in no particular order of importance they can be summarised as follows:
New classroom block
New toilet block and shower area for girls only
The acquisition of a 9.5-acre farm to support our sustainability goals in future
Additionally, we have now cattle and chickens and have planted coffee beans, maze and other vegetables for sale and for the project itself.
The bore hole water project both at the farm and at the orphanage ensuring a supply of clean and plentiful water
Additional land at the project
Additional teaching staff
Creation of a UK Charitable Trust registered with the UK Charities Commission at targeting corporate sponsorship and UK sponsors who will be able to claim Gift Aid tax relief.
We have had visits from supporters and board members that have enabled the children to spend time with them and for the management and staff to interact and share their experiences with our wider community.
I have first hand experienced the love and support and total cohesion of the management and staff across all levels and special thanks to Tonny, Innocent and Derrick and to our head teacher Jockus. You are all amazing people who I am proud to work with.
2026 will also be an important year for our building projects and additional classrooms to ensure we continue to deliver on our promises to the local community. More about that in the coming few months.
I would like to thank everyone, our sponsors, Donors and Corporate sponsors-Foundation Carpe Vitam, Praxis group, Skywalker-Jersey for supporting our efforts to serve the children of Mushunga better.
It remains for me to wish each and every one of you a Happy, Blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Martyn David Crespel TEP,
Board Chairperson-Mushunga Project
